The Power of Wire Cutting Machines

The function of wire cutting machines is that they are tools that are used to cut different types of wires and flexible tubing as well to specific lengths. They can be controlled via a computer and programmed to cut wire or cable to specific length. Wires, cables, glass optical fiber, insulated cable, Kevlar, copper tubing and many other plenty of other materials may be cut using the wire cutting machines.

They can also be automatic or semi-automatic type of machines which provide precise wire and cable cutting. This tool works by feeding the wire in on a reel, marking the wire with inkjet or hot stamp printing mechanism then cuts and coils the finished product on another reel or stacks it in a guide channel. For cutting insulated cable, it also often includes a slitting or stripping machine which slits open the cable insulation without damaging the cable’s shielding. This machine is also used for stripping and makes use of a rotating blade to follow the contour of the cable, cutting away the insulation of the cable to expose a portion of the cable. Some may even terminate the cable by crimping or sealing the ends of the wire or cable.

Here are a couple of wire cutting machine models you can consider:

PowerStrip 9500- this can be described as a high performance, efficient and modular wire and cable processing system that can be fully integrated into an automatic production line. It impresses with precise and repeatable Schleuniger stripping quality, high processing speed and a vast range of processing possibilities.

With its multiple blade system on the cutter head, it permits the use of up 3 pairs of blades which can easily handle most cutting, stripping and slitting requirements.

Airline Series – If you want to strip wires twice as fast then nothing compares to Eubanks pneumatic Airline of high powered wire strippers. What’s great about them is it increases the performance of your wire strippers. It clean strips your toughest wire, is built rugged for life and it returns your investment in a matter of weeks!

Medical Computer Carts Offer Mobile IT Solutions For Hospitals

When medical computer carts were first designed for and marketed to hospitals several years ago, many administrators realized the potential of this technology to streamline workflow and record keeping. They also expected that this efficiency would translate to improved patient care and safety. They were right. Mobile computer carts give nursing staff the ability to document medical history and other information from the patient’s bedside shortly after admission. More recently, features such as bar code readers have been added to medication carts. This technology makes dispensing medication and record keeping faster and it reduces the chance of human error.

This type of medical equipment has been around long enough for health care professionals to recognize their potential and their limitations. The present generation of medical equipment has been designed to address the needs and desires of health care professionals. Here is a short list of some of the recent developments in medical computer cart.

Ergonomics
One medical computer cart may be used by people of widely varying heights throughout the workday. Some staff may prefer working from a seated position while others are happy standing. A portable workstation that can change height quickly and easily is ideal for these situations. Adjustable tilt keyboards allow for optimal ergonomics as well.

Power Supply
The advantage of mobility doesn’t count for much if a systems portable power source is inadequate or unreliable. A portable power source should supply enough Watt-hours to operate a portable computer for several hours. Ideally a portable power source should clearly indicate when it is running low. Having the choice of AC or DC recharging is an added bonus. There are, of course, tasks and situations where a robust portable power source is unnecessary. Features like a hospital grade cord reel for the AC power supply are a great convenience in these cases.

Security
For many hospital computing tasks, basic laptops are the most cost effective computer for use with medical computer carts. Unfortunately, laptops are a popular target for thieves. Every 53 seconds someone somewhere has their laptop stolen. In a hospital environment, it’s especially important to guard against theft because computers are likely to contain confidential patient records. Many medical computer carts are designed with rugged physical security that essentially eliminates crimes of opportunity. Carts that house a CPU instead of a laptop can also include high security fasteners.

These are just some of the features that have been developed for medical computer carts. Healthcare is an evolving industry and you can expect mobile medical computer carts to evolve as well.

Grid Tie Inverter For Solar Panel

A grid tie inverter is a particular type of inverter that will allow you to take the electricity you generate with things like solar panels or wind turbines and sell it back to the power company.

The 1978 Federal Public Utilities Regulatory Policies Act (PURPA) states that everyone in the US has the right to sell renewable energy to their local power company. This law was introduced in response to the 1973 Arab oil embargo and is equally relevant today.

The function of an ordinary power inverter is to convert DC electricity to AC so that it can be used in the home. They also work to convert 12 or 24 volt electricity to 120 volt, for the same reason. While inverters are an ordinary part of any renewable energy system, you can’t use just any inverter to sell power back to the utility company. The AC power that you get from an inverter is essentially the same as that which comes right from the grid: 120 volts, 60 cycles per second. However, it’s probable that the two sources of electricity are out of phase with one another. Your electricity may be cycling up while the grid’s is cycling down, and vice versa. A grid tie inverter will ensure that your inverter stays in sync with the grid.

Grid tie inverters offer other benefits as well. As a rule, electricity flows from higher voltage to lower voltage. This is the principle under which battery charging, for example, works. The battery is connected to a charger that outputs at higher voltage, and the electricity flows to the location of lower voltage: the battery. This is why a 12 volt battery takes a charger of over 12 volts.

Therefore, moving electricity back to the grid requires electricity which is of a higher voltage than the grid’s electricity. This is another way in which a grid tie inverter comes in handy, as it keeps track of voltage levels as well. Your excess higher voltage electricity will flow out to the grid, and your power meter will run in reverse.

It’s not surprising, considering their extended functionality, that grid tie inverters are more expensive than ordinary inverters. However, a grid tie inverter will give you the opportunity to actually make money using your renewable energy system, so it’s worth the investment. Anyone using wind or solar energy should strongly consider going with a grid tie inverter.

How to Choose the Right Surface Grinder

An electrically operated high-speed hand held surface grinder is usually employed in grinding the rough surfaces of metal or wooden objects till they become smooth or look ‘polished’. The desired results are achieved because of the grinding wheel, which is attached to the spindle of the grinder. And so, the surface grinder you need will depend largely on the material that needs grinding. For instance, if any metal surface needs grinding, the grinding wheel should be made of a highly abrasive material, and it should have numerous cutting niches embedded in it. On the other hand, for grinding a wooden surface, what you need is a less abrasive wheel.

Surface Grinder – The Types

There are two basic types of surface grinders, and they are:

  • The Planer-type
  • The Rotary-type

In the Planer type, the grinding wheel remains stationary, while the worktable moves in a back-and-forth motion. This movement is controlled either manually or through some hydraulic drive system. These grinders are selected when overall grinding is required once the machine component has left the foundry.

In the Rotary type, the grinding wheel rotates, as does the circular worktable. These grinders are selected when the precision machine parts require grinding before being fitted into its housing. In both the surface grinder types, the safety hazards are well taken care of, and because of this, accidents rarely happen.

Hand Held Surface Grinders
Hand-held surface grinders are mostly used by carpenters or machine shop assistants. However they come with several risks for the user. First of all, flying debris loosened by the grinder can hit the user with a tremendous force, and this can of course cause physical injury. In rare instances, the user may also be blinded if any flying trash hits the eye. Therefore, people who use these grinders must wear a suitable uniform to protect them from the debris. It is also essential to wear goggles for eye safety.

Things to do After a Surface Grinding Job Is Over
After a surface grinding job is over, the entire workstation should be cleared of debris. If the work was done on a wooden material, the sawdust may be supplied to those who make composite boards, while the shavings from the metal surface can be sent to steel mills for melting.

However, what matters most is the safe clean-up of the work area, as otherwise, someone might get injured from carelessly thrown bits of metal shavings. Also, the surface grinder needs attention after each operation. It should be checked for any flying debris that blocks its air vents or any damage caused to the moving parts.

Ball Valve History & Mystery

Here is a light hearted history and trivia on the ball valves. Read it and you will never take your natural gas or electricity for granted again, OK so maybe you will…

Ball Valve mystery?

The humble ball valve has a checkered history and somewhat murky origins. It may not be cloak and dagger stuff, but it’s not without mystery… Take a look around to see where the ball valve is indispensable. For example, the ball valves are crucial to the petroleum industry, water, electric power, chemical, paper, pharmaceuticals, food, steel and other fields. If it seems we could not get a long without the ball valve, it’s probably true! Given the importance of the ball valve today, it’s a mystery why it took so long to invent.

Ball Valve history does not go back to ancient Greece or the American Revolution nor does it? The modern ball vale was invented in 1967 or about 1957 according to different sources. Who cares when the ball valve was invented? Besides the patented owner, probably not many people. Still the ball valve was major advancement over plug valves used in the 20th century. The earliest ball valves were commercially available around 1967. For ancient parallels, the ruins of Pompeii turned up a bronze tapered plug quarter turn valve that resembles to the ball valve today. How’s that for a ball valve mystery?

Ball Valve Birth Pains

Ball Valve researchers point to a spherical ball-type valve patented in 1871 led to the invention of today’s ball valve. This ball valve was an all brass valve- brass ball and brass seats. Apparently this ball valve didn’t storm the market and was not mentioned in valve catalogs of the late 1800’s while today’s ball valve is quite a recent invention; the idea for this ball valve has been around about 125 years. The first resilient seated ball valve patent was issued in April, 1945. Legend has it the company’s marketing department could not envision a use for the valve and it was not manufactured. Oh well, that’s the way the ball valve bounces…Given the huge reliance on the ball valve today, it’s a mystery why it took so long for people to invent and use the ball valve.

A Comprehensive Overview of Tubular Heater Elements

If you have an application that requires a uniform heat source over a distributed area, then a tubular heater is probably the best heating source of choice. These heaters are flexible in that they can be used for a myriad of different applications. Tubular heaters can be designed in several different dimensions, shapes, and configurations. In fact, they are so versatile that they can be formed into virtually any shape.

Sheath materials and heater shapes

The sheath material of these heaters is selected according to the material to be heated and other specific requirements of an application. Some of the commonly used sheath materials include: 304/316 stainless steel, aluminum, incoloy, steel, copper, and so on. The sheath material also allows the heaters to be precision formed. When precision formed, such heaters can be securely fitted into the milled grooves of many different types of surfaces.

The voltage ratings of such heaters, too, can be designed in keeping with the specifications of your application.

Termination options on tubular heating elements

The terminations on such heaters can be either standard or completely customized. Here too, it is the nature of the application that determines the choice of termination. The commonly used termination options on a tubular heater include a threaded stud terminal, bulkhead fittings, or flexible lead wire. However, if your application is likely to witness exceptionally harsh conditions or high-moisture environments, custom sealed terminals should be chosen to enhance process safety.

With the right design and right terminal choice, tubular heaters provide unmatched efficiency, versatility, and economy in operations.

However, it is very crucial to ensure that these heating elements are designed with a precision fit. This helps optimize the transfer of heat to the working surface. There are several different ways of mounting such heaters-they can be clamped on the edge of a the vessel containing material to be heated, cast into metal, immersed directly into the materials to be heated, and so on.

Uses and applications of tubular heaters

The industrial, commercial, and consumer-based uses of tubular heating elements are many. However, they can be classified into the following major categories:

  • Air heaters: These are commonly used in ovens, radiators, hot air curtains, radiators, and infrared heaters.

Electric Steamers and the Many Benefits Of Steaming Foods

One of the easiest to use and versatile appliances in the kitchen is an electric steamer. You can find electric steamers under other names such as rice cookers and food steamers. Either way using a steamer to steam vegetables or your rice is a great and easy way to prepare delicious meals.

When cooking vegetables in a traditional way, in a pan on a stove, you can sometimes end up with mushy and pale Looking vegetables. Often the water you cook the vegetables in carries more nutritional value than the actual vegetables you have cooked. The water absorbs all the vitamins and minerals that the vegetable is known to carry. When cooking such vegetables with a pan on the stove, we tend to overcook them until they are pale and soft in texture. If you use a steamer to cook your vegetables it will prevent overcooking from taking place. Using an electric steamer, water is evaporated through a valve, leaving you with beautifully cooked, nutritious and succulent vegetables.

Cooking rice perfectly is a skill in its own right and a difficult one to master that! It’s not uncommon to get impatient while waiting for the rice to be cooked properly and completely tender when using traditional methods. Sometimes you can even scorch the bottom of the pot and give the rice a burnt taste. Using an electric steamer to cook rice means you cook it to perfection every time because most of them come with built-in timers. Everything is taken care of for you leaving you with delicious, tender rice.

You may be surprised to know that it is possible to cook a whole meal in one of these electric steamers. This proves to be a time saving practice because you can put all the ingredients in at once and cook them together using the inbuilt timer means you can sit back and relax.

Sometimes you can end up purchasing large electric steamers if it suits your family life better. These steamers often come with baskets which keep foods separate. This means you are able to cook more than one food at the same time. Electric steamers are incredibly practical and healthy to use and I’m sure the more you use your electric steamer to more uses you will find for it.

If you are interested in purchasing an electric steamer, why not have a look around for some cookbooks which are designed give you some imaginative and creative ways to cook delicious, succulent, and healthy food. A good place to start is Amazon.com as there are many books available very cheaply there. Alternatively you also many websites dedicated to the subject.

Powder Metallurgy

Powder metallurgy was formerly known as lost art. Not like clay or other stoneware materials, the skills in molding and firing useful and ornamental metallic objects were seldom applied in the early phases of history.

Metal powders like gold, copper and also bronze and many other powdered oxides specifically iron oxide which are used as colors, were utilized for ornamental uses in ceramic objects, used as base in paints and inks and also in cosmetics since the start of history. Powdered gold has been used in illustrating several manuscripts in the early times. The procedure in producing the powdered gold was not known, but it was possible that lots of powder were taken through granulation after the melting of the metal. Low dissolving points as well as resistance to corrosion favored the procedures, particularly in production of gold powder.

The utilization of these fine particles for pigments or decorative purposes is not a real powder metallurgy, since the important features of the current art are the creation of powder and consolidation into the hard form by means of putting force and heat at the warmth below the liquefying point of the main element.

The two principal techniques utilized to shape and consolidate the ceramics or powder metallurgy are sintering and injection of metal molding. Current improvements have possibly done to make use of speedy manufacturing techniques that use metal powder. Due to this method the powder is not sintered but melted so better mechanical power can be attained.

A much broader assortment of products might be attained from powder processing rather than straight alloying of merged materials. In dissolving procedure the “phase rule” can be applied to all untainted and merged elements and firmly dictates the sharing of solid and liquid stages which may exist for particular compositions. Furthermore, the entire body liquefying of starting substances is needed for alloying, hence, commanding annoying element, thermal and suppression limitation on manufacturing. Unluckily, the management of aluminum/iron tiny particles poses principal problems. Other materials that are principally reactive by means of atmospheric oxygen like tin is sintered in unique atmosphere or by means of temporary coatings.

In ceramics or powder metallurgy, it is probable to produce components which would disintegrate or decay. All concerns of solid-liquid stage changes may be overlooked, so powder procedures are more supple than forging, casting or extrusion techniques. Controllable character of products set by the use of several powder technologies including automatic, magnetic and some unconventional characteristics of such substances as spongy solids, aggregates and inter-metallic compounds. Competitive distinctiveness of production procedures can also be regulated strictly.

Products of powder metallurgies at present are used in the broad range of business, from automotive as well as aerospace applications into power apparatus and household appliances. Every year the international awards for powder metallurgy highlight the increasing capabilities of the expertise.
